Shockwave Therapy

Focused Shockwave therapy is a fast and effective non-surgical treatment for acute and chronic pain in muscles, tendons, and joints.

A shock wave is a strong pressure wave that can be produced by supersonic aircraft, lightning, explosions, or other natural phenomena that create rapid changes in pressure. Shockwave Therapy has been used in medicine to treat kidney stones for several decades. In the early 1980's, use of shockwave therapy to treat non-healing bone fractures was discovered. The tissue and cellular effects were becoming more well defined and it became clear that Shockwave Therapy could be used to stimulate healing and regeneration of bone, tendon, ligament and many other tissues.

In recent years, the use of extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) in medicine has been described favorably many times. Success in treating orthopedic disorders has been well documented in countless studies.

Our Piezowave Therapy uses acoustic, shock waves to target injuries at varying depths to compress and manipulate the tissue. The results of this stimulus can lead to increased circulation and pain relief – key components in the healing process.  Click here to read more about how Piezowave can help you!

Shockwave Therapy for Chronic Pain

This treatment is especially effective for those with chronic pain resulting from a condition affecting the tendons and bones, such as:

  • Achilles tendonopathy
  • Calcific tendonitis
  • Golfer’s elbow
  • Heel spurs
  • Jumper’s knee
  • Osteochondritis
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Retrocalcaneal bursitis
  • Stress fractures
  • Tennis elbow

Proven safe and effective, shockwave therapy is a quick and simple noninvasive procedure that doesn’t involve needles or require numbing agents.

Unlike other therapies that can take weeks to take effect, shockwave therapy provides fast results without the use of steroids for immediate pain relief. Results are felt as soon as the next day, with no risk of irritation, swelling, or bruising that often accompanies many other treatment therapies. Most patients report improved functionality and quality of life after the procedure, especially those affected by tendon issues.

If you are an active individual who suffers from pain, you could experience a noticeable healing boost, improved blood flow and decreased pain with therapy.
