Prolozone therapy is a type of ozone therapy that is used to treat a variety of orthopedic issues. The principle of prolozone therapy is that a lack of circulation of oxygen in the body affects healing.
One of the most important aspects of healing is ensuring that the injury site has a steady supply of oxygen. Oxygen is essential for cell growth and regeneration, and without it, wounds take much longer to heal. In some cases, lack of oxygen can lead to tissue death, which can further complicate the healing process. Therefore, it is crucial to make sure that injured tissues are getting enough oxygen to promote proper healing.
In this article, we will talk about what conditions prolozone therapy can treat.
Treating Tendonitis
A recent study on prolozone therapy for tendonitis treatment showed promising results. Forty patients with chronic tendinitis were treated with either prolozone injections or a placebo. After eight weeks, those who received the prolozone injections reported significantly less pain and improved function compared to the placebo group. The researchers concluded that prolozone therapy may be an effective treatment option for chronic tendonitis.
Another study, published in The American Journal of Sports Medicine, looked at the use of prolozone therapy for Achilles tendon rupture and found that it appeared to be effective at reducing pain and improving function.
Treating Arthritis
A recent study found that prolozone therapy can significantly reduce pain and improve function in people with arthritis. The study, which was conducted at the University of California, San Francisco, involved 30 patients with osteoarthritis who were treated with prolozone therapy.
After eight weeks of treatment, the patients had an average reduction in pain of 50 percent and an improvement in the function of 40 percent. These results suggest that prolozone therapy could be a valuable addition to the arsenal of treatments available for arthritis sufferers, as ozone injections trigger tissue regeneration and arthritis is a degenerative condition.
Treating Trigger Points
Trigger points are often treated with prolozone therapy, because they are typically very sensitive and painful areas. The injections help to reduce inflammation and pain in trigger points, allowing for a better range of motion and function, as cell activity is triggered, the blood supply is increased, and the normal flow of nutrients is restored.
A total of 30 participants were recruited for one study, 15 in the prolozone group and 15 in the control group. All participants had at least one myofascial trigger point in their upper back or neck region. The participants were randomly assigned to either the prolozone group or the control group.
The prolozone group received 3-5 injections per session, with each injection containing ozone, saline, and lidocaine. The control group received saline injections without ozone or lidocaine. Participants in both groups were asked to rate their pain on a scale of 0-10 before and after each treatment session, as well as 1 week later. They also completed a quality of life questionnaire before and after treatment sessions 1 week apart.
The results showed that there was a significant decrease in pain scores in the prolozone group compared to the control group immediately after treatment.
Treating Bursitis
Prolozone therapy, when used to treat bursitis, is very effective, as when ozone injections are given, the growth factors are stimulated, as are fibroblasts within the joint, which increases the rate of healing.
A study on how prolozone therapy treats bursitis was conducted to find out if this treatment is effective. The study included 30 patients who were diagnosed with bursitis. All of the patients received prolozone therapy, and the results were monitored over six weeks.
The results of the study showed that prolozone therapy is an effective treatment for bursitis. All of the patients in the study reported a significant reduction in pain and inflammation after receiving treatment.
