WHAT HAS YOU SIDELINED?
-
Pain should not limit your lifestyle. Don’t be “just a number” elsewhere or wait until surgery is the only option. Click on the highlighted areas for information on conditions we treat and learn how we can bring back the athlete in you.
Foot & Ankle Pain
Many athletes, gymnasts, and active adults experience some form of foot and ankle pain at some point in their lives. Most foot and ankle pain is caused by soft tissue injuries, such as a sprain or strain, that eventually heal with simple RICE (rest, ice, compression, and elevation) self-care measures.
Knee Pain
Knee pain is a common complaint among today’s athletes and active adults. Because the knees are often the most used joints in the body, and they carry a lot of weight and pressure, it’s not surprising that they can easily be injured.
Elbow, Wrist & Hand Pain
At Reagan Integrated Sports Medicine, elbow, wrist, and hand pain is a fairly common complaint among our athletically active patients. Since they use their arms for so many activities (e.g. catching, throwing, swinging, reaching, grasping), pain in the upper extremities is almost inevitable and can cause significant problems if not properly treated.
Hip Pain
Considering that they bear much of the weight of your body, is it any wonder your hips are vulnerable to painful and sometimes debilitating injury?
Back Pain & Sciatica
More than 31 million Americans experience low back pain at any given time. That’s due to the fact that the vertebrae (bones) in the lumbar region (the lower back) – which are the largest bones in your spine and support the weight of your upper body – are forced to endure powerful forces from such actions as bending, lifting, and twisting. As a result, your lower back is more susceptible to painful injuries or conditions.
Disc Herniation
A herniated disc – also referred to as a ruptured disc – occurs when the firm outer exterior of a spinal disc develops a crack, allowing some of the softer interior to leak out and irritate adjacent nerves.
Shoulder & Rotator Cuff Pain
A painful shoulder is more than a nuisance. It can be a nagging source of discomfort that forces you to curtail many of your activities both on and off the playing field.
Neck Pain
Severe neck pain resulting from a sports injury or years of intense physical activities can be just as problematic as back pain.
TMJ Dysfunction
TMJ (short for temporomandibular) is a pair of joints on each side of your head connecting your jawbone to your skull, acting like a sliding hinge. TMJ disorders can cause pain in your jaw joint and in the muscles that control your jaw’s movement.
Headaches
Just about everyone experiences mild to moderate headaches from time to time. It’s when headaches are severe and become a frequent source of pain and discomfort that medical treatment may be required.
